"My experience with therapy is both positive and personal. I had a family member
who suffered from severe depression. So, at the age of 8, I found myself in
therapy learning how to deal with it. The therapist really helped me and that's
when I realized that's what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to make a
difference in people's lives like that therapist did for me."
"I seem to have built-in radar when it comes to addicts and troubled teens. I
am able to call them on their stuff and at the same time offer them a safe place
where they can open up and be honest –– really be themselves. Getting them to
focus on their behavior and determine whether it's moving them closer or farther
away from their goal is the first step toward changing behavior."
"I also have experience developing and putting behavioral plans in place for
children to modify noncompliant behaviors at home."
Words to Grow By
"Sometimes, we are afraid of moving on because we prefer sticking to the things
we know all about. We call this certainty. We tend to hold on to something, just
because we've gotten used to it. Making changes has a certain risk and people
are afraid of this risk. But, you should know that this risk is never greater than
your potential success."
